1. What type of accommodations are available for my group?

Camp Caraway offers cabins and lodges. Most beds are bunk-style and guests furnish their own linen. The RYE building offers twin and queen beds and has linen provided. All lodges and cabins are modern and have amenities such as multimedia and a/c.

2. What is price packaging?

Camp Caraway offers a package price to ease transactions between the group leader and group participants. Our main package rate includes 1 night of lodging and 3 meals. Meals may be added or eliminated by the group at the time of registration. Caraway DOES NOT bill individuals.

3. What activities are available for my group?

Activities include hiking, paintball, challenge courses, canoeing, swimming, and fishing, use of the blob, athletic fields, zip lines, gym and the camp store.

4. How far ahead of my intended day of arrival should I make my reservation?

Depending on the day of the week your event is to take place, you should check with Caraway about reservations 3-12 months before the event. Some last minute openings are available at times, but cannot be guaranteed. Friday nights in the fall are the busiest times.

5. What is a Challenge Course?

A challenge course is a series of activities or elements designed to challenge individuals or the group as a whole. The low challenge course can be used to address group issues including communication, leadership, teamwork, problem solving, and trust. High challenge courses provide individuals and groups the opportunity to push themselves beyond the limits of their comfort zones, to support one another while doing so and to all take part in the process of learning about themselves and one another in a facilitated process.

6. What differences are there between the opportunities at the Conference Center and the Camp?

Camp Caraway offers youth-camp style lodging and facilities. The camp focus is more geared toward children, teens, college students, and menís groups. The conference center is more geared toward adult groups.

7. Will other groups be onsite that will affect my group’s experience?

There are times when multiple groups are being hosted here at Caraway. However, the only time that groups tend to overlap is during meals. Our accommodations are laid out in different areas of the property so that no two groups are placed right on top of each other.

8. What should we bring?

Toiletries, closed toed shoes, linens, sweater or light coat, flashlight, sleeping bag, special dietary needs, water bottle, towel, bathing suit, Bible, rain gear, sun block/sunglasses, money for gift shop, water shoes, and a camera are all recommended items to bring.

9. Should we carpool; what is the parking situation?

There is parking available at each of the lodging areas. However, when multiple groups are onsite the extra parking becomes more limited. When possible, Caraway suggests minimizing the number of vehicles your group brings.

10. What sort of programs do you offer for each age group?

In addition to the activities listed previously, Caraway offers summer camps and our A.C.O.R.N.S. program.

11. Who should I ask for when calling to make my reservation?

Simply ask to speak to the camp office. A staff member can assist you from there.

12. Do my kids need to bring extra money for any reason (for snack machines, gift shop)?

Caraway offers snacks, clothing, and other souvenir items through our gift shop. There are also snacks for sale in the lobby of the Conference Center for those late night munchies.

13. Where do we need to go once we arrive?

Check-in for groups staying in the camp is handled in the Camp Caraway office. When entering the driveway, proceed straight through the automated gate and look for the square building immediately behind the flagpoles. Parking is available near the flags or to the left of the office building.

14. What size space will we have at our disposal?

Each cabin or lodge is assigned its own meeting space. Lodging and meeting spaces are determined with the group size and program in mind. Additional meeting space is available.

15. Will someone be available during our stay if we were to encounter a problem?

A member of the Caraway staff is on-site and on-call at any time day or night when groups are on sight. Groups are made aware of who to contact in case of an emergency.

16. If I cancel my reservation before my intended day of arrival, will I receive a refund?

When a reservation is made, the estimated numbers for the group can be adjusted up to 90 days before the date of the event. After this time the final bill will reflect a minimum of 80% of the final estimate or the total number if the group exceeds the estimate. Cancellations will not receive a refund of their deposit.

17. Are facilities available to us if we would like to make our own meals?

We encourage groups to sign up for our reasonably priced meal packages. Facilities are not available for group cooking.

18. How does the registration process work?

Groups wishing to make a reservation will call the camp office and being the process. After the initial contact a contract will be sent to the group leader. This contract is due back in the camp office, with the 25% of the total bill deposit, within 14 days. When the contract and 25% deposit are received, the group reservation is confirmed. Groups may adjust numbers up to 90 days prior to the retreat. At 90 days out from the retreat, groups are locked in to a minimum of 80% of their registered number. Once a group sends in their deposit, it is non-refundable!

19. At what point is my registration confirmed?

The group reservation is confirmed only when the 25% deposit and contract are received.

21. Is the summer program run by Caraway?

The summer camp program is run by the North Carolina Baptist Men (NCBM) in cooperation with Caraway. All program responsibilities and staffing is performed by NCBM.

22. Can we have any say in the menus provided to our group?

Menu requests may be made during the registration process. However, we normally serve multiple groups simultaneously and cannot guarantee the implementation of such requests.
