Camp Caraway exists as a special place that provides and hosts meaningful programs. Each year, Camp Caraway hosts our summer camp program, Camp Caraway for Boys, from mid-June to early August. When camp is not in session, our campus is active hosting retreats, camps, field days, and other outings. Groups that typically use the camp include churches, schools, and other nonprofit organizations. In 2007 over 6,000 guests experienced Camp Caraway.

Camp Caraway is convieniently located seven miles west of Asheboro, in the beautiful Uwharrie Mountains.

Through the combined efforts of the Baptist State Convention of NC and North Carolina Baptist Men, Camp Caraway’s original tract of land was purchased in 1961. Five small additional pieces of land were purchased since then to bring Caraway property to almost 1,100 acres total.

Camp Caraway first began as a Royal Ambassador camp in 1963. While the camp was held on the same property, its’ actual location was across the highway from the current site. The camp now exists as Camp Caraway for Boys and operates in the summer with twenty-five staff and over 1000 campers.

Caraway added the conference center in 1974 for the purposes of providing the NC Baptist family a site for meeting, conferencing, education, and fellowship. The conference center operates all year, and experienced over 16,000 guests in 2007.

The Caraway operation now includes lodges, cabins, gyms, swimming facilities, lakes, hiking trails, and much more. Camp Mundo Vista, the Women’s Missionary Union (WMU) camp for girls is also located on the property.

God has certainly blessed the history of Caraway, and the future looks exciting!
